Let the weekend countdown begin! We’re now only days away from the easing of lockdown restrictions and social distancing measures in the UK. From 4th July, we will see the much-anticipated return of pubs, restaurants as well as the re-opening of many other businesses including outdoor gyms, hotels, hairdressers and barbers.
We know how important it is for our local businesses to re-open this weekend and so we’ve been busy repurposing our event booking system to help you and your businesses operate in a “covid-secure” way.
Servicing and keeping the community safe is our top priority at Ticketlab. Here are some of the products that we’ve been working on to help local businesses:
Contact Tracing Web App
To fulfill your business’ new requirement to assist the government in track and trace for those affected by COVID-19, we’ve created a simple way to collect customer details.
Upon entry to your business, customers can scan a QR code with their smartphone (both iPhones and Android phones now have QR scanners built in as standard) or enter a simple URL into their web browser. They’ll then be prompted to fill in their name and phone number or email address. For customers without smartphones, or who for any reason might not be able to fill in this information themselves, your staff will be able to use the web app on a smartphone or computer on their behalf.
When customers visit another participating business, we’ll be able to securely and swiftly pre-fill previously entered data to speed entry and registration.
Customer data will then be stored securely by Ticketlab* in case of a localised outbreak. If a previous customer tests positive for COVID-19, Ticketlab will be able to relay the contact details of anyone who was in the shop on that day and contact tracers will then be able to advise those individuals to quarantine.
We’ve created a demo of this product for you to try, showing the simple interface and steps to log a visit to your business. This can be fully customised in terms of messaging and branding, and on the final screen of this demo we’ve included an optional step to allow customers to opt in to future communications from your business.

Table and Appointment Booking Web App
Pubs, restaurants and shops will be hugely popular now that lockdown rules are lifting and so we wanted to help these businesses control the amount of people attending their physical business space.
Our platform can offer businesses an easy to use booking system (available on mobile, tablet and desktop computers), where customers can book custom time slots, pay a deposit (if needed) or amend their bookings. Businesses will also have the ability to release bookings in case of no-shows, re-shuffle booked tables, and input walk-up customer details which can be logged as per government tracing guidelines.

QR Code Menus
We’re trying to help businesses and customers remain social at a social distance. Using our QR code technology again, we’re offering pubs, cafes and restaurants a web app so that customers can order food and drinks directly to their table. By scanning a QR code or entering a web address printed on the menu or table, guests can browse the menu online, place an order and settle their bill using their smartphone. This avoids unnecessary queuing and maintains a “covid-secure” customer experience.
All of these products are aimed to take away the extra admin created as a result of coronavirus, as well as create a safe and pleasant experience for your customers. * Ticketlab is fully GDPR compliant and registered as a data controller with the ICO. This solution enables shops and other establishments to avoid the headaches related to GDPR themselves if they’re not already versed in its complexities. Contact details can be encrypted and after the data is no longer useful (currently around 21 days), user data can be automatically deleted.
